Languoria

For this project, we were asked to design a character set to reflect the ambient music genre. Listening to the calm and subtle sound ambient music has we thought that it shared similarities with the sound of nature.

Inspired by this idea, we explored Barcelona’s Montjuic park to look for potential visual forms we could use. Through our exploration we found the fallen pieces of Stone pine trees, using the unique organic forms of the pieces we were able to create a character set that was both legible and visually striking. Although small changes were made to make the letters more legible we tried to keep the forms as close to the original as possible.

Using the character set, I designed the album cover design for Languoria by Sofie Birch and Antonina Nowacka. The cover uses the already eye-catching form of the letters as the main visuals. I chose to focus on the forms of the letters in order to create a clean cover that reflected the calming music found in Languoria.

This project was done while studying at Master Beyond Branding in ELISAVA, Barcelona.
